Update on travel to Tibet

We are sorry to say that it is not possible to visit Tibet currently due to the decision of the Chinese authorities to issue a travel ban to Tibet until further notice. There is no definite end date but suggestions are that travel may be allowed to resume from October this year. If you’re looking to travel this year good alternatives with a Tibetan flavour and culture include a visit to the Upper Mustang or Manaslu regions of Nepal with great trekking there or a visit to Ladakh in the India Himalaya. Contact us for details. Looking ahead to 2013 and beyond we are hopeful it may be possible to visit Tibet again and experience that wonderful region and local culture. For more suggestions and alternatives to visiting Tibet email us or call us on 0845 0940273 and we’ll be happy to help.

Visit Ladakh in the Indian Himalaya

Ladakh, often known as Little Tibet, is a remote borderland at the end of the Western Himalayas only accessible a few months a year and a region of stunning landscapes of high passes, deep gorges, stark moonscapes, snow capped glaciers, vast plains and high peaks. Ladakh lies in the far north of India although culturally and geographically it is closer to Tibet and it is one of the last remaining enclaves of Tibetan Buddhism. Enjoy one of the most varied and beautiful treks in Ladakh as you trek into the Hemis National Park high in the Himalaya, circling the edge of the Indus Valley on our 14 day Markha Valley Trek. Or take an overland jeep tour and cross the highest motorable road pass in the world as well as take a short camel safari in the beautiful Nubra Valley on our Trans Himalayan Jeep Safari.
